Collapsed and overgrown gallery in the jungle temple of Ta Naem, Banteay Chmar Complex. The passageway leads to a remnant doorway with characteristic Buddhist faces in the likeness of King Jayavarman VII. Exploring this remote 12th century Angkor temple labyrinth in NW Cambodia is the closest experience to a "Tomb Raider" or "Raiders of the Lost Ark" type adventure. The architecture is similar to the more well known temples built by Jayavarman VII at Angkor Thom. Banteay Chmar is more remote, overgrown, and only recently cleared of landmines from the Khmer Rouge civil wars lasting until 1998.
